HALO update

I would like to thank everyone who helped with the Macaroni Dinner last Friday night. It was a great success. We took in $2028 that night at the door $869 of that was in the tip jar! We have some money still coming in from the art auction and some online ticket purchases. We received several big donations before the dinner. One for $1,000 (which I do not have permission to say who), $250.00 from Davis Correctional Facility, $570.00 for Security State Bank and several additional donations. Looks like the total is going to be $3,620.00!!! It’s awesome because our vet bill is $3,000.00 this month! Thank you to the Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church for the use of their facility and to all the Methodist congregation for cooking macaroni dishes and desserts for us! What a great bunch of people! I will be placing an ad in the paper thanking everyone who helped and hopefully won’t miss anyone!

Illegal marijuana farm raided in Atwood by OBN

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) assisted by the Hughes County Sheriff’s Department served a search warrant at an illegal marijuana growing operation at 7274 EW County Road 145 in Atwood on Wednesday March 16. Mark Woodward, public information officer for the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, stated that this farm did not have an Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) or an OBN license to grow marijuana and the owners/operators were selling their product on the black market out-of-state. OBN seized approximately 6,000 plants and 2,600 pounds of processed marijuana. Mr. Woodward said the raid was part of an ongoing investigation that is expected to result in multiple arrests.
