Life After Sports - Its Pros and Cons

On Saturday, February 19, Clearview held its Black History Program. Featured guest included former Atlanta Falcon player Dewey McClain, Hall of Fame & Girls Basketball State Champ (4 times) Darlene Calip, and former Dallas Cowboy player Felix Jones. Reginald “ICE” Terry served as moderator of the panel who discussed “Life After Sports, Its Pros and Cons.” Dr. Donnie Nero served as emcee of the program. Approximately one hundred persons attended the event. Dewey McClain is from Okmulgee and currently resides in Atlanta and serves as a state representative for Georgia. Darlene Calip is from Okemah and resides in Sapulpa where she is the girls’ basketball coach at Sapulpa High. Felix Jones is from Tulsa where he graduated from Booker T. Washington and went on to play for the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburg Steelers and resides in Tulsa. He is owner of the Tate Brady mansion. His plans are to refurbish it and make it into a museum. Darlene and Dewey are graduates of East Central University and Felix attend the University of Arkansas.
