Marguerite Departed this life on Friday, March 19, 2021, at 104 years of age, being a lifelong resident of Clearview, Oklahoma.

On September 30, 2016, the Board of Directors of the Oklahoma African American Educators Hall of Fame, Inc. (OAAE), dedicated their Sixth Annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Banquet to the memory of Hilma Bernice (Ligions) Barnes who served as a charter Life-Timepeccable contributions to the organization. She was a staunch supporter of the Hall of Fame and she wrote the first check in support of construction of the OAAE Hall of Fame Building in Clearview, Oklahoma.
