Dr. Donnie Nero and Shirley Nero attended the 2025 Area 5 Oklahoma Conservation Commission at Eastern State University at Wilburton, Oklahoma on Wednesday, November12, 2025. Dr. Nero serves as one of three vice-presidents of the Board of Directors representing Area 5. Area 5 represents fourteen counties including Okfuskee County. During the Area 5 meeting counties and students were recognized for their achievements. Okfuskee County won Area 5 District of the Year and will compete with the other four districts for District of the Year.
