Marcus Mosiah Garvey Jr. ~ Order of National Hero (Jamica) (17 August 1887 – 10 June 1940)

Marcus Mosiah Garvey Jr. was a Jamaican political activist. He was the founder and first President-General of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIAACL, commonly known as UNIA), through which he declared himself Provisional President of Africa. Garvey was ideologically a black nationalist and Pan-Africanist. His ideas came to be known as Garveyism.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day ~ Clearview, Oklahoma

On Monday, January 20th, millions across the country celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. birthday, a national holiday celebrated the third Monday in January, during events, programs, and parades. In Clearview, citizens and guests celebrated with a program with the theme of “Freedom.” Guests, numbering over 50, arrived from Muskogee, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Boley, Grayson, Rentiesville, IXL, Clearview, and Cookson.
