One Pharmacist’s View

It is generally believed that the 1918 flu epidemic infected 500 million people. The actual death toll is unknown but thought to be between 40 and 50 million. Our country was tangled up in WWI and this deadly flu killed as many of our young men and boys in the service as those that fell on the battlefields. President Wilson was "begged" to take actions such as limiting large gatherings and other emergency measures to help control the spread of this debilitating disease. He wouldn't even do a press release about it for fear of our German enemies learning how hard we had been hit by this deadly flu. And there was politics in 1918 too.

Clearview News:

The Clearview MLK Jr. program is canceled and will be combined with the Black History month program in February. A date is yet to be determined. Prayers are requested for Jerry French who is undergoing lung cancer treatments (chemo/radiation). Jerry is the son of the late Lawrence and Marguerite French of Clearview. Jerry resides in Weleetka. Also, prayers for Felix Linden, brother-in-law to Jerry and husband to Michele French who is in the hospital for the second time with pneumonia. Please continue to pray for our sick, Otis Davis, Taft Forshee, Tiger French, Wilbert Zackery, Lloyd Samilton, Yolanda Jackson, Becki Stripling, Christopher Stripling, L.C. and Irene Carson, Marjorie Plunkett, and Earnest Hamilton.

The Person Down the Road

In thirty, forty, or fifty years, you'll meet a person down the road. Whether that someone is kind and gentle or selfish and demanding depends on what you do today. If you live only in terms of what you can get out of life, this person will be crabby, selfcentered, and spiteful. But if you open your life to others and live as a giver, this person will be kind, open, and generous. This somebody whom you'll meet down the road someday is you. The person you will be tomorrow depends on the life you live today. Every day, in every way, you are becoming more and more like yourself. Make sure the person you are becoming is someone whom you'll enjoy being around.
