Happy 91st birthday to Alpheus Grundy of Clearview on August 20th. Grundy’s sister-in-law and niece gave him a surprise birthday party on Sunday. Story in the next issue. Billy Walker spent a week in the hospital. He is recovering at his daughter’s home. Sucker Day plans being made

The Wetumka area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture held their regular luncheon, prepared by the Wetumka Hyehcka Club, and meeting on Tuesday, August 9. The Committee reports were given to the members in attendance. Membership is up to 27 as of August. We still have a few months to reach our ambitious goal of 50 members for the year of 2022! In development, it was reported that the Family Dollar/Dollar Tree is open for business. Mrs. Dyer said we would try to plan a ribbon-cutting and a presentation of the First Dollar of Profit as soon as possible. We will try to present the other First Dollar of Profit certificates to the four other new businesses that have yet to receive theirs, on the same day. It was also reported that the much anticipated Farmers Market should be completed by the end of the week!
