Service held for Janet Sue Baxter

The life of our beloved Janet Sue Baxter ended suddenly on Tuesday February 26, 2019 at Duncan Regional Hospital following a brief illness. The funeral service was held at 10 am Friday March 1 at the Comanche First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ryan Sims officiating and Rev. Kevin McKinley assisting. Services were under the direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. Interment was at Fairlawn Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. Donations in lieu of flowers

may be sent to the Comanche First United Methodist Church 411 Oak Main, Comanche OK 73529. Sue was born as an Okie displaced by the Dust Bowl on June 25, 1935 to parents Raymond and Ruth Marshall Nolen in Angel’s Camp, Calaveras County California. She married Dewayne Baxter on December 29, 1954 in Holdenville. To this union two daughters were born, Becky Sue and Sherry Lyn. Sue’s early career was spent as a legal secretary to George Moser, and later to the firm of DeBois, Peck, and Sherrill as a legal secretary for J D “Duke” De-Bois. Sue followed her heart to USAO and her second career as an educator. After graduating Summa Cum Laudi, with Highest Honors of Alpha Lambda Delta and Hypatia, she became the beloved Ms. B, teaching Senior English and English Literature. She loved her career and her students. Sue was a member of the Comanche First United Methodist Church where she served as treasurer for many years, sang with the choir, was a member of UMW, and was a member of the Walk to Emmaus Great Plains Walk 1. She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in

law: Becky and Brue Ballou, Sherry and Jim Minter of Duncan. The true joy and love of her life were her five grandsons and great-grandchildren. She is survived by grandsons and granddaughters-in-law Damon and Jamie Minter, Dustin and Viktoria Dill, Sean and Michelle Crowell; great grandson Nick Minter Jr., great-granddaughters Julia Minter, Jacee Minter, Amelia Doshier-Crowell, Kaetlyn Sanders, Lana Daniels, and Mya Daniels. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dewayne Baxter, and two grandsons Nicolas Minter Senior and Dana Dewayne Dill.
