Janie Abernathy

Janie “Ab” Abernathy was born on July 19, 1954 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Earl and Patsy Abernathy.

She passed from this earth on January 28, 2024 in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by family and friends.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Patsy Abernathy and her brother-in-law Larry Guest.

She is survived by her sister Brenda Guest of Wetumka, her twin sister Karen and husband Bill Clendening of Wetumka, nieces Deanna and husband Keith Gunter of Wetumka, Tamara and husband Casey Runyan of Mill Creek, and Holley Clendening of Wetumka; great nieces Morgan and husband Justin Misner, Reagan and Rasey Runyan, Mazie Wagner, and Abby Mouser; great nephews Ralston Runyan and Suede Mouser and many other family and friends.

Janie graduated from Wetumka High School and went on to attend Seminole Jr. College and East Central University obtaining her degree as a teacher. She later moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and spent many years teaching for Sand Springs Public Schools, where she retired in 2019. She spent many years teaching students from all ages, and she strived to always make a difference in every child she taught. When she wasn’t teaching, she enjoyed spending time in Wetumka with her family and friends doing things outdoors.

She loved fishing and do ing yard work and watching football every Sunday afternoon.

Visitation for Janie Abernathy will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 in the Spradlin Memory Chapel at WilliamsonSpradlin Funeral Home in Wetumka from 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.

Funeral Services for Janie will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 1:00 P.M. at First Assembly of God in Wetumka. Services will be officiated by Rev.

Curt Bellinger.

Services are under the direction of Williamson-Spradlin Funeral Home of Wetumka.
