Graveside Thursday for William J. Grantham

William “J” Grantham, 86, of Overland Park, KS, and formerly of Sasakwa, OK., passed away on January 3rd , 2019. He was born on July 9th , 1932 in Trent, TX.

A graveside service will take place at 1:30 PM on Thursday, January 10th, 2019 at Wills Cemetery in Peculiar, MO.

William, who went by “J,” graduated from Trent High School, where he played six-man football and was an artist on the annual staff.

He later worked in the oil fields of West Texas, established a barber shop in Trent, then began a career with the USDA as a federal food inspector, where he retired in 1997.

William retired with his wife, Wantha Kilpatrick Grantham, to a country home near Holdenville and Sasakwa, OK, where they lived for nearly 20 years. He was a lover of old cars and football, and spent many hours on building projects at the couple’s home.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ivy Marie Grantham, his wife’s parents, Raymond and Opal Kilpatrick, and by his brothers, Eugene, Odel, (Curtis) and Gerald Wayne, and his sister, Zella.

He is survived by his wife, Wantha, and three children, Wayne, Russell and Melody Grantham.

Memorial donations may be made at City Union Mission in Kansas City.
