The Okfuskee County Home and Community Education Clearview Club (OHCE) hosted the Okfuskee County Fall meeting on October 15, 2024 at the Main Street Community Building in Clearview. Those attending were clubs from Okemah, Paden, and Clearview. Members enjoyed an early morning continental breakfast before the business session at 10:00 a.m. Marilyn Jackson, the county secretary, welcomed the attendees. During the business session, the members discussed issues including immunizations, healthy living, menu planning, exercise programs, and much more. Jill Gibbins and Spencer Gibbins, OSU Educators, presented lessons on “Guiltless Gourmet Holiday Goodies” and preparing meals with the four main food groups with fewer calories. Those attending from the Clearview Club included Henrietta Hicks, Helen Bush, Edith Jimboy, Shirley Nero, Marilyn Jackson, and Joyce Barrett. Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Okfuskee County OHCE should contact the Extension Center at 918-623-9213.

Read moreOn Sunday afternoon, the Clearview Brown Suggas and three spouses boarded the Nero van to travel to Tulsa to see the Black Broadway Tulsa Presents: “A Raisin in The Sun.” written by Lorraine Hansberry directed by David Harris. The production lasted approximately three hours. Afterwards, the group departed for a late evening dinner at “Fixins Soul Kitchen” in downtown Tulsa. There they met owner Kevin Johnson, former Phoenix Suns basketball player. It was a great evening for Marilyn Jackson, Rita Cooksey, Pat Johnson, Leslie Vick, Donnie and Shirley Nero, Claud and Elaine Evans, and Peter and Helen Bush.
