Read moreThe Singing Church-Women (SCW) of Oklahoma is one of the performing groups sponsored in part by the Oklahoma Baptist. The group, which began in the fall of 1989 by founding director, James D. Woodward, now numbers nearly 350 active singing members. The phenomenal growth and statewide popularity are due in large part to the leadership and vision of Dr. Bill Green who directed the group from 1991 (following Woodward’s death) until 2009. The group’s next director, Dr. Ken Gabrielse, celebrated the 20 anniversary of the group and focused on a worship service concert, continued by their next director, Bart Morrison. Currently, the group is under the direction of the Oklahoma Baptist Worship and Music Specialist, Dr. Randy C. Lind, who also conducts the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma.

Read moreOn Saturday, February 19, Clearview held its Black History Program. Featured guest included former Atlanta Falcon player Dewey McClain, Hall of Fame & Girls Basketball State Champ (4 times) Darlene Calip, and former Dallas Cowboy player Felix Jones. Reginald “ICE” Terry served as moderator of the panel who discussed “Life After Sports, Its Pros and Cons.” Dr. Donnie Nero served as emcee of the program. Approximately one hundred persons attended the event. Dewey McClain is from Okmulgee and currently resides in Atlanta and serves as a state representative for Georgia. Darlene Calip is from Okemah and resides in Sapulpa where she is the girls’ basketball coach at Sapulpa High. Felix Jones is from Tulsa where he graduated from Booker T. Washington and went on to play for the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburg Steelers and resides in Tulsa. He is owner of the Tate Brady mansion. His plans are to refurbish it and make it into a museum. Darlene and Dewey are graduates of East Central University and Felix attend the University of Arkansas. The message to all the young people in attendance they all agreed on was to watch what you put on social media because it will follow you for life, to have a positive attitude about life, most of all be respectful no matter what. The other one was to always have a back-up plan just in case the first one does not work out.
