East Central State University 2023 Homecoming

Marilyn Jackson, Donnie and Shirley recently attended the East Central University Home Coming and Alumni Celebrations during the weekend of September 23 -25. 2023. During the Alumni breakfast, Jackson received her 50th year medallion, as she graduated from ECU (then East Central State College) in 1973. Donnie and Shirley were graduates of 1971 and 1972. While there, they connected with long-time college friends, attended all alumni events, tailgated, attended the football game, and concluded with church services with college classmates.

One Pharmacist’s View

It was 95º last week. And here it is October. But I knew that it had been hot like this in the past. In 1953 on this date 70 years ago the high was 104º! I reminisced in my mind about this. Yes, while the world seems to be suffering from global warming, here in Oklahoma the weather does what it will. In 1953 I was 18 and as such often was available to help out on neighborly chores. Back then just as it is now, people were hoping summer was about done. But alas, this is Oklahoma.

HUGHES COUNTY RED HATS MEET IN SEPTEMBER

Sharon Dilday and Diane Bowman hosted the Red Hat Ladies luncheon at K-Mila’s Mexican Restaurant. It is a great place for a meeting and the food is great too! There wasn’t a reading of the minutes or treasurer’s report. Diane gave a beautiful prayer blessing our meeting and the food. Dues and tip money were collected.
