Service Held for Clayton Keith Tyler

Clayton Keith Tyler passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at his home in Allen, Oklahoma at the age of 55. Clayton was born September 6, 1968 in Waurika, Oklahoma to Elzy Lee Tyler and Betty Lou (Williamson) Self. Clayton was an Equipment Operator for the railroad. He enjoyed music, singing, fishing, hunting, and golf. Clayton loved spending time with family and friends. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his children Brittney Tyler of Frankford, Missouri, and Deanna Jennings and husband Kevin of Frankford, Missouri; grandchildren Adalee Nicole Langley, Owen Keith Langley, Grayson Wade Langley, Dallas Scherder, and Nova Jennings; siblings Kasey Tyler of Allen, Elzy Tyler and wife Barbara, of Marshall, Texas, and Karl Tyler of Longview, Texas. Clayton is survived by numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral service was 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 20th, at Hudson Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Brittany Tyler speaking. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma.

Service Held for Betty “Sue” Chapman

Betty “Sue” Maxwell Chapman went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 13, 2024. She was born in Dustin, Oklahoma on March 17, 1932 to LeeRoy and Nellie (Paulson) Maxwell. She married Amos Chapman on September 29, 1950 and he preceded her in death on October 23, 1990. She and Amos owned and operated Chapman Oil Company for many years. She loved cooking, working in the yard, and playing the piano. She faithfully served at First Baptist, Calvin for over 75 years as church pianist.

On August 17, 2024, participants of the Oklahoma Black Towns State Conference gathered at the Allied Health Building on the campus of Langston University to listen and learn from speakers representing state agencies, the Oklahoma Historical Society, Langston University, sororities and fraternities, and the Cherokee Nation.

HAPPY 93RD BIRTHDAY TO ALPHEUS GRUNDY

On August 20th, Alpheus Grundy of Clearview celebrated his 93rd birthday at his home with his son Gerald and a community of friends. He was served cupcakes and ice cream earlier in the day and a fried chicken dinner later. He really enjoyed the day visiting with his community of friends. Marilyn Jackson organized the birthday party and chicken dinner.
