February is African American History Month

February marks the annual nationwide observance of African American history. Historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson founded, in 1926, Negro History Week to this occasion to highlight the history and contributions of African Americans. African American History Month is recognized int eh United State States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The month of February was selected to coincide with the birth dates of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.
