Read moreOn February 26, the Weleetka Graham EMS presented the Weleetka New Age Center with a Zoll AED. The Zoll AED was received through a grant from L.A Gear Grants. The AED Grant was received in conjunction with Weleetka Graham EMS providing AHA CPR training to the center free of charge to three of their e mployees. The grant program states the Zoll AED had to be placed in a public access area (public building) that at least 65% of the people who attend functions there could possibly need the AED at one point. February marks the annual nationwide observance of African American history. Historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson founded, in 1926, Negro History Week to this occasion to highlight the history and contributions of African Americans. African American History Month is recognized int eh United State States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The month of February was selected to coincide with the birth dates of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.
