As the United States ended the twentieth century, its population included immigrants and temporary residents of more than twenty Asian nations, stretching from the Pacific Islands to China and Japan to Vietnam, Cambodia, and India. They had begun arriving in the midnineteenth century. Similarly, Asian immigrants came to Oklahoma in small numbers in that century, but the state developed a large Asian presence only in the 1970s, well behind the states of the West Coast.

Vivian was born August 11, 1961 in Frederick, Oklahoma to Forrest Peck and Nelda (Bishop) Peck. She graduated high school and then attended Voc-Tech Nursing in Ada. Vivian was working at Holdenville General Hospital and it was there she met her love Marty Davis. She married Marty Davis June 12, 1992 in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. She gave birth to her daughter Paula Sankey, who was a preemie and a son Arles Wells, whom she donated a kidney to him in 1995. Vivian worked in the nursing field for 35 years.

Read morePatricia Ann Berry was born September 13, 1949, to Lessie Mae Combs and Matherine Yarbrough in Wetumka, Oklahoma. She completed her education in the Wetumka Public School system. Patricia was raised in the Church of God in Christ on the north side of Wetumka, later becoming a member of First Baptist Church North, then finally Living Water PHC, all in Wetumka.
