The Clearview OHCE Brown Sugga Club hosted the OHCE Winter Council Meeting and Luncheon on December 16th at the Clearview Main Street Community Center. Members reviewed the Fall Council Meeting held in Clearview on October 27th and discussed ongoing initiatives, including fundraising through aluminum can collection and the Winter Warmth Project.

He received the Billboard’s New Artist of the Year and the Single of the Year Award in 1979. He was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame and was a frequent performer at the Grand Ole Opry. Downing was also nominated for the Best New Artist Award of the Academy of Country Music and appeared on Hee Haw, Nashville Now, and Dick Clark’s American Bandstand television programs. Downing was born in Lenapah, Oklahoma, United States. Downing began his career doing piano and vocals in Bobby Poe and The Poe Kats, who were an early backing band for country entertainer Wanda Jackson. His piano contributed to the single “Let’s Have A Party”, which was released in 1960. The song reached No. 32 on the UK Singles Chart and made the Top 40 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
Read moreThe Town of Clearview has been awarded a COEDD-REAP grant to enhance the community’s cemetery. The grant will fund the refurbishment of the old road that runs through the cemetery, making it more accessible for visitors. In addition, an outdoor toilet facility will be constructed to better accommodate guests, especially during Memorial Day weekend. The improvement work is scheduled to commence in early 2026, marking a significant step forward in supporting Clearview's heritage and hospitality.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends at Colquitt City Cemetery on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at Colquitt Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Estelle Thompson was born Ruby Estelle Johnson in 1931, daughter of Wesley Johnson (Mvskoke) and Anna Lee Johnson, and grew up in Oklahoma in the humblest of circumstances. For the rest of her life, she revered her mother’s example of working hard and caring for her family, no matter how diffi cult the circumstances. She fell in love with Ralph Thompson in high school, and they married just after she graduated, valedictorian of her class. Ralph worked at several different cattle ranches in Texas, Oklahoma, and Georgia before moving to Jo-Su-Li Farms in Colquitt in 1956. They would remain part of the Colquitt community for the rest of their lives.
