Mary Janice Baxter

Mary Janice Baxter, 88, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, in Muskogee with her family by her side.
She was born on March 6, 1937, in Oakdale, California, to Nelson and Gladys (Sans ing) Roberts. On June 1, 1956, Janice married her best friend, Jerry Baxter, in Wetumka, Oklahoma. Their marriage spanned over 69 years and was marked by deep companionship and shared adventures.
As Jerry pursued a career with the VA Hospital system, Janice embraced the life of a homemaker—a role she treasured— while they moved across several states including Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Texas. In each place they called home, Janice formed lasting friendships and brought warmth to those around her. Janice was an avid bowler for many years and enjoyed playing golf in earlier times. She loved traveling to Professional Bull Rid- ers (PBR) events and was an enthusiastic basketball fan. Above all else, she cherished time spent visiting with family and friends—whether gathered together or connecting online.
Janice leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love that touched all who knew her. She will be dearly missed by those whose lives she brightened with her presence. Janice is now reunited with her parents; her brother, Jerry Don Roberts; and her daughter, Twyla Raye Baxter.
Those left behind to cherish Janice’s memory are her loving husband of 69 years, Jerry Baxter of the home; sons, Rod Baxter and wife Susie of Beebe, Arkansas and Russ Baxter and wife Lisa of Park City, Kansas; grandsons, Greg Davlin of Searcy, Arkan sas, Thomas Davlin and wife Amy of Heber Springs, Arkansas, Brett Baxter and wife Kristin of Manhattan, Kansas, and Bryan Baxter of Park City, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Steph, Megan, Marissa, Presley, Mac, Navy, Oakley, Walker, and Breckan; great-great-grand- children, Kensleigh and Madelyn; sisterin-law, Betty Roberts of Lakewood, Colorado; extended family; and many friends.
Visitation with family receiving friends will be 5PM7PM, Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Clifford D Gar rett Family Funeral Home in Muskogee.
A celebration of Janice’s life will be 10AM, Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel in Muskogee with Brother Ron Dean officiating.
Brett Baxter, Bryan Baxter, Greg Davlin, Thomas Davlin, Mac Davlin, and Shawn Stokes will serve as casket bearers.
Committal prayers and interment will follow at Wetumka Cemetery in Wetumka, Oklahoma.
