Services to be held for LaRue Anne Martin

LaRue Anne Martin passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020, in Holdenville, Oklahoma at the age of 68.

LaRue was born May 10, 1952 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Amos Barney and Lizzie Harjo. LaRue graduated from Eufaula public school and attended Eufaula Boarding School. She was a teacher’s aide at Creek Nation Head Start. LaRue was a member of Many Spring Baptist Church. She enjoyed dancing and roller skating. LaRue loved working with kids, her grandchildren were the love of her life, and she enjoyed watching them play sports and spending time with her family.

LaRue is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herman Harjo, Vernon Harjo, and Cheparney Harjo; and sisters Roseann Harjo, Anna Mae Bland, and Tina Ruth Harjo.

She is survived by her daughter Tonya Gordon and husband Danny of Holdenville; grandchildren Cameron and Mia Gordon, and Emaleh Bryant; sisters Alice Lowe of Holdenville, Jennie Lou McDuff of Texas, Christine Lovejoy of Holdenville, Noretta Bass of Kleen, Texas, Bonnie Mae Smith of Tulsa, and Bernice Alexander of Glenpool. LaRue is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Wake service will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, July 31 st , at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Holdenville. Interment will follow at Many Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Holdenville. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, August 1 st , at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Deere officiating assisted by Pastor Frank Moppin.

Pallbearers are Cameron Gordon, Chris Bass, Russell Lowe, Trevian Carolina, Anthony Harjo and Jimmy Bland. Honorary pallbearers are Matthew Chuculate, B.J. Martin, Brandon Sullivan, Taylor Fields, Dusty Sullivan and Amos Lovejoy.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville, Oklahoma.
