Gladys Jewel Reeves-Wilkes left this earth Sunday, March 10, 2019, at her home in Ada, Oklahoma with her daughter by her side. She was born to Clyde and Ruby Collard on December 1, 1929 and grew up in the area around Allen.

Gladys met Clovis B. Reeves and they married May 3, 1946. Clovis farmed and Gladys was a homemaker trying to keep up with babies (daughter Sherry Lynn Reeves born July 8, 1947 and son Clovis Lee Reeves born Feb. 26, 1955). Due to drought, they sold out and moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in January 1956. Gladys started her career in banking at that time, she stayed in banking until she retired at McAlester. Clovis worked at the refinery like so many from Allen did and then ended up working for Texas Highway Department as a welding inspector.

Gladys loved church and didn’t hesitate to try different ones out. Clovis and Gladys’ first church was Atwood Baptist Church where they were active in the young couple bible study. She continued her church service where ever she was living at the time.

During the years after Clovis and Gladys divorced they remained friends and enjoyed their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In later years she married Travis Wilkes of McAlester.

She is survived by brother Carl (Sonny) and wife Pat Collard, Calvin, and sister Wanda Sue Black, Atwood; her daughter Sherry Lynn Norman, Ada; and son Clovis L. Reeves, Sr., Eufaula. She leaves four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great on the way; and several nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by husbands Clovis B. Reeves and Travis Wilkes, and good friend, David Travis, as well as her parents Clyde and Ruby Collard, brother Earnest Collard, sisters Dorthea Arthur, Hazel Carter and brother-in-laws Doyle Arthur, Bruce Carter and sister-in-law Lena Collard.

Gladys had a good heart and was always trying to be there for her children and grandchildren. She always kept herself busy with playing chess, crocheting, sewing and keeping up with her kids and grandkids. She moved back to Ada, Oklahoma in 2006 where she lived until her death.

She will be cremated and her ashes will be placed next to her husband Clovis B. Reeves in Atwood Cemetery. Memorial Service will be April 6th , 12:00 pm at Atwood Community Center. The family asks in lieu of flowers please donate to Atwood Cemetery Fund in her name. You may donate to First National Bank, First United Bank or at the Memorial on April 6th . The family thanks all the many friends for their prayers.
