Ray David Little, Jr., aged 93, a longtime resident of Hobbs, New Mexico, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2019, at the Gardens of Bellaire in Houston, Texas. Ray David had moved to Houston in October 2018 to be closer to family.

Ray David is proceeded in death by his wife, Jeffie Louise Westmoreland Little, and his daughters Phyllis Alma Little Barnett and Lois Ann Little, as well as his parents and four of his brothers.  He is survived by sons David Bruce Little (and Nancy) and Douglas Ray Little (and Bonnie), nine grand kids (Lisa, Dan, Paul, Jeff, Rebecca, Jill, Amanda, Caitlin, and Rachel), 14 great grand kids, a brother, William Little, and sisters-in-law Ramona Little and Helen Little, along with many nieces and nephews.

Ray David was born in Lockesburg, Arkansas.  He met his wife in Wetumka, Oklahoma, on a blind date.  After a whirlwind courtship of nine days, they were married and remained together until she died in 2012, almost 70 years.  He enlisted in the Army in 1943.  He served with the 89th Infantry Division of Patton’s Third Army in Europe during WW2, and following the war returned to his wife and new son David.  He worked as a printer in Wetumka and Okmulgee, Oklahoma, where his second son Doug was born.  He then moved the family to Lovington, New Mexico, where he continued to work as a printer.  The family moved in 1953 to Hobbs, New Mexico, where his sons and daughters all graduated from high

school.  He first worked for the Hobbs News Sun but in 1959 bought Quality Printing.  He and Louise worked together to build the business into Superior Printing Service, Inc., a well-respected part of the Hobbs business community.  He was also a longtime member of Quail Unlimited and the AMBUCS.  He had many friends in the Hobbs business community and was a longtime member of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Desert Gardens in Hobbs for their loving care of our Dad.  We would also like to thank the staff at Village of Meyerland and the Gardens of Bellaire in Houston.

He had a good, long life, and he has now gone home to his heavenly father and his beloved wife and the others who preceded him.

Ray David’s funeral was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019, at the Wetumka Cemetery in Wetumka, Oklahoma, where his body was laid to rest alongside his wife and daughters. In lieu of flowers, please consider purchasing a Bible in his name through the Gideon’s or donating to a good veterans’ cause of your choice. A memorial service will be held in Hobbs later in the Summer.
