Our sympathy to the family of Willie James Fish

Willie James Fish, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully surrounded by a loving family at the age of 68 on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

Willie was born on February 14, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to the late Charlie Curtis Fish, Sr. and the late Anna Elizabeth Givens-Cobble. As a faithful minister of the gospel and proud member of the Muscogee Creek Nation, Willie would sing and interpret the meaning of tribal hymns prior to his preaching. Willie was the Associate Pastor for Cornerstone Indian Baptist Church, Norman (Little Axe) He leaves behind his beloved wife of 49 years, Carolyn Sue Miller-Fish of Norman, Oklahoma. They were richly blessed as parents of four children: a daughter, Karen Sue Fish-Reveles and son-inlaw Carmello Reveles, Sr., Mustang, Oklahoma; three sons: William James Fish, Ada, and Jered Wayne Fish and wife Kathryn, Eric Josiah Fish and wife Chloe.

Six precious “grandangels”: Taylor Fish, Jackson Fish, “Mello” Carmello Reveles, Jr., Eliana Reveles, Maliyah Reveles and Autumn Fish; and one great granddaughter, Tallie Fish Willie was the fourth child of seven children.

His siblings include Ellen Hawzipta and husband Rev. Leon Hawzipta, Holdenville, Charlie Curtis Fish, Jr., Glenpool, and fiancé Keselar Wind, Terry Fish, Wetumka, Angella Fish, Wetumka, Stacy Taylor of Noble, and husband, Jeff Taylor; Charlotte Conant of Norman, and husband, Mike Conant, and the late Jesse Givens; numerous nieces and nephews.

Willie accepted Jesus Christ into his life at the age of 10 during Vacation Bible School and was baptized.

He attended Wetumka Schools graduating in 1975. He received a Bachelor’s of Science from the East Central Oklahoma State University in 1981, majoring in Industrial Arts and minoring in computer programming where he would work professionally.

He enjoyed playing baseball for the mighty Wetumka Chieftains despite his physical challenges. As a sports fan, he enjoyed following the University of Oklahoma Sooners sports teams and was an avid fan of the St.

Louis Cardinals. Precious memories were made with his sons enjoying golfing.

He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball for his son’s teams and sharing his basketball tips with Karen. He was known to give out witty nicknames.

Willie and Sue began their lives together meeting 50 years ago at East Central University and have been inseparable since. They were married in 1976. His professional resume included the Chickasaw Nation computer department, JP Emco / Camrose in Ada before relocating to Norman in 1989. There he accepted a programming job at Data Design where he would retire.

He accepted the call to ministry as a deacon ordained by Ada First Indian Baptist Church in 1985. Licensed and ordained into the Gospel Ministry in 1988 by Ada First Indian Baptist Church with Bro. Phil Lawrence as his pastor. His ministry involved working in various churches such as Sand Creek Baptist Church in Wetumka, Morris Memorial Baptist Church, Ada, Ada First Indian Baptist Church, Ada, First Indian Baptist Church, Norman, Church at Norman, Norman, Indian Nations Baptist Church, Seminole, Norman Baptist Fellowship, Norman, and Cornerstone Indian Baptist Church, Norman, (Little Axe).

He served in various capacities in the Muscogee Seminole-Wichita (MSW) Association, Chi-Ka-Sha Association and Union Association. Willie diligently served on the Indian Falls Creek Board for several years providing Godly wisdom and shuttling campers on his camp golf cart.

Willie enjoyed spending time in God’s word, sharing his faith, fulfilling his call to teach and preach. And most of all, spending time with his growing family.
