Our sympathy is extended to the family of Wayne Raymond Sanborn

Wayne Raymond Sanborn passed away Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 81.
Wayne was born March 6th, 1944, in Portland, Maine to Ralph Sanborn and Grace Margaret (Rich ardson) Howard. He graduated from Belfast High School in Maine. Wayne enlisted in the Navy at a young age and spent his time on submarines.
He had several stories to tell about the food, sharing bunk space with a torpedo, swimming in the ocean with fish that would appear out of nowhere and disappear the same way when he was sent out in his wetsuit in the ocean to check on things on the submarine. He worked at New Yankee Power company in upstate New York for a while, was a partner in a jewelry store, in Hastings, Minnesota, was a trouble shooter for Stone & Webster where he helped build nuclear power plants, owned his own construction company in San Jose, California and became maintenance director for his church. Wayne assisted his late wife, Joyce, with her business Bras Etc. After moving to Calvin, due to Joyce’s health, he did some construction/maintenance/repair work in the area when Joyce’s health permitted. He basically retired to take care of Joyce and never regretted doing so.
Wayne loved music and playing guitar. He would play and sing with such enthusiasm really getting into a song. People enjoyed watching him. He loved to make people laugh and had a unique perspective on life. He never met a stranger and was always talking to someone everywhere he went, meeting new friends and greeting old ones. Wayne married Sharon Lewis in 2023 in Checotah, Oklahoma. He was a loving husband and faithful church member at Atwood Nazarene Church in Atwood, Oklahoma. He really enjoyed his church family, and they enjoyed him as well.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Joyce Lawrence Sanborn, brother Donald Sanborn, sister Linda Merithew and Dawn Howard. He is survived by his spouse Sharon Sanborn of the home, two daughters; Lori Thole, Nichole Sanborn, stepson Terry McFarlane, grandchildren; Monica, Thomas, Carey, Christian, Amber McFarlane, brother Allen Sanborn.
