Our sympathies extended to the families of Wendell Don Venable

Services for Wendell Don Venable, 79, of Ada are 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 18, at the Ada First United Methodist Church, Rev. Larry Bauman, Rev. David Daniel and Rev. Brian Matthews will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Venable died Sunday, February 13, 2022 at a Shawnee hospital. He was born December 18, 1942 in Holdenville to William Andrew and Odessa Betty Page Venable. He graduated from Byng High School.

He married Patricia Ann Hughes Johnson on September 19, 1979 at the First United Methodist Church in Ft. Worth, Texas. Mr. Venable received his Undergraduate Degree from East Central University. He retired from the Department of Human Resources, pastored several churches, founded Victory Cathedral, and later pastored United Methodist Churches at Fittstown and Stratford. He also had been employed as a Dispatcher, Police Desk Officer and Police Patrol Officer.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Venable, of the home; three daughters, Donna Manning and husband Michael, Ada, Janie Kirby and husband Clay, Ada and Cheryl Smith, Edmond; three sons, Rob Johnson and wife Kim, Ada, Gary Johnson and wife Susan, Ada and Brian Johnson and wife Cynthia, Gallup, NM; sister, Phyllis Cook and husband Jerry, Ada; brother, Jerrell Venable and wife Cheryl, Sapulpa; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Randy Johnson.

Bearers will be Jared Manning, Jordan Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Ryan Smith, Reid Johnson and Rylan Johnson. Honorary bearers are Brady Johnson and Brycin Venable Winningham.
