Our sympathies extended to the families of Karen Sue Wilbourn

Memorial services for Karen Sue Wilbourn, Wetumka resident, will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Parks Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Wetumka, Oklahoma.

Karen Sue Wilbourn was born December 19, 1949 in Okfuskee County to Harley Warren Mead and Geneva Lee (Brooks) Mead. She passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at her home in Wetumka at the age of 72. Sue was a Hughes County

Sue was a Hughes County resident for most of her lifetime, she attended Bearden Public School, in Bearden, Oklahoma. On February 5th, 1966 she married Roger Dale Wilbourn, from this union two daughters, Lori and Deborah were born. Sue was known to be a hard worker, never letting any grass grow under her feet. She worked as a cashier most of her life, most recently being employed at the local Dollar General Store. Sue was a gifted gardener spending many hours in her yard, lovingly tending to beautiful flowers. In the spring and summer months her yard was a scenic showplace for the whole community to enjoy. Second to her love of gardening, was her passion for hummingbirds. Every spring she looked forward to their arrival, so she could start feeding them and spending many hours watching them. Those birds are going to miss her along with all her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Geneva Mead, her husband, Roger Wilbourn, and one brother, Ronald Mead.

Survivors include her daughters, Lori and husband Eddie of Wetumka, Deborah Nichols and husband Orlin of Beggs, OK, two brothers, Vernon and Mike Mead. Four grandchildren, Derek Williams and Diamond of Wetumka, Chase Williams and Traycee of Wetumka, Cali Sweazea of Stillwater, OK, and Avree Sweazea of Beggs, OK. Five great-grandchildren, Jaxlee, Jenni, Brantlee, Sutton and Jake.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are: Derek and Chase Williams, Cali and Avree Sweazea, Eddie Williams, and Orlin Nichols.

Sue’s celebration of life ceremony will be officiated by Pastor Curt Bellinger

Services will be under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Home, Wetumka, Oklahoma.
