Melba Charlene Dean passed away Monday, April 22, 2024 at her home in Holdenville at the age of 89.

Melba was born February 5, 1935 at her home in Wetumka, Oklahoma to George and Gladys (Noe) Pruitt. She attended Elementary School at Friendship and High School at Yeager. Melba married the love of her life Paul Dean on November 12, 1955 at the Church of Christ in Holdenville, Oklahoma.

Melba and Paul raised peanuts and cattle, where she was always by his side. They raised two girls and made their home in the Yeager area. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, fishing, camping and cooking for her family. Mostly she enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Melba is preceded in death by her parents George and Gladys Pruitt; twin brother Milburn (Cotton); brothers Wayne and George Lendon (Len) Pruitt; and one greatgrandson Justin Fitzpatrick.

She is survived by husband Paul Dean of the home; two daughters Nancy Renfrow and husband John of Jenks, Oklahoma, Elizabeth (Beth) Dean of Holdenville; her five grandchildren, Amberly Fitzpatrick and husband Cecil, April Walden and husband Shayne, Jason Refrow, Kyle Cates and wife Ashley, Christy Wilkes and husband Chris; one granddaughter of the heart, Koral Linker and husband Kenny; nine greatgrandchildren, Christopher Fitzpatrick, Conner and Madison Walden, Kaylee, Kenlee and Weston Wilkes, Kyler, Brody and Emma Cates and two of the heart, Grayson and Kolter Linker; one sister Debra Moore of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania; and two sisters-in-law, Marge Pruitt of Montrose, Colorado, and Margaret Jones of Ada, Oklahoma. Melba is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 24th, at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Azlin officiating. Interment followed at Yeager Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kyle Cates, Jason Renfrow, Shayne Walden, Chris Wilkes, Christopher Fitzpatrick and Conner Walden.

Services were under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma
