Joshua Caleb Whetstine passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 45.

Joshua was born April 10, 1978 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Kenneth Whetstine (deceased) and Valeri Chavez and husband Pepe of Mounds, Oklahoma. He graduated from Holdenville High School in the Class of 1996. Joshua was a surveyor in the commercial construction industry. Joshua enjoyed playing pool and watching the Atlanta Braves. He loved Sonic, the Donut Shop, spending time with his family and with all his nieces, nephews, and grandkids. Joshua never forgot any of the birthdays!

Joshua is preceded in deathbyhisfatherKenneth Whetstine; grandparents, Raul and Martha Chavez, Herman and Margaret Simpson, and Kenneth and Louise Whetstine; uncles Rodney Simpson and Kim Simpson; and cousin Tyler Bourne.

He is survived by his parents Valeri and Pepe Chavez; daughter Brooklyn Azlin and husband Dex of Wewoka; two grandchildren, Carter Azlin and Addi Azlin; siblings Seth Whetstine and wife Shari of Sapulpa, Gretchen Mooney and husband Jeff of Mounds, Hayden Chavez of Mounds, and Dillon Whetstine and wife Melissa of Seminole; nieces and nephews, Cody, Beau, Bryce, Stevie, Davie, Kaylin, Madi, Presleigh and Jayden, Chandler, Owen, Azlyn, and Braxton; greatniece Marleigh Mae; aunts and uncles, Raul Chavez and family, Jaime Chavez and family, Martha Balderrama and family, and Crystal Bourne and family. Joshua was survived by numerous other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be 9:0am-7:0pm, Thursday, November 9th, at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville.

Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 10th, at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dane Robinson officiating.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mounds, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers are Chandler Smith, Owen Mooney, Cody Whetstine, Jeff Mooney, Hayden Chavez and Jayden Smith. Honorary pallbears are Seth Whetstine, Dex Azlin, Beau Whetstine, Bryce Whetstine and Dillon Whetstine.
