Jack McCoy

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Jack Dewayne McCoy, our loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all whose lives he touched. He left us on March 10, 2024, at his daughter’s residence in Spiro, Oklahoma. He was in his 90th year.

Jack was born in Lamar, Oklahoma on April 16, 1933, to James Shelton & Rosa May (Campbell) McCoy, who preceded him in death.

Jack was the beloved husband of Colene Mc-Coy for 65 years. Colene preceded him in death. Colene & Jack married in Lamar, Oklahoma on December 28, 1954. They had their daughter, Tanya, in 1961. Jack was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War. After his time in the Army, Jack had a long, extensive career as a pipeliner. Jack believed in hard work and was dedicated to every job he held. If you knew Jack, you have heard at least one Army or pipelining story.

As a long-time native of Lamar, Oklahoma, Jack enjoyed driving around the backroads of Lamar reminiscing of his time growing up on the South Canadian River with his 11 siblings. Jack loved to sing and play guitar.

While Colene and Jack had only one child, Jack served as a second father to his granddaughter, Jacqueline. The family has often joked about how many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren Jack & Colene ended up with when they only had one child of their own. Jack is the much loved father of Tanya Hanna (Larry), cherished grandfather of Jacqueline Gilley (Matt), Angela Wells (Zach), Alisha Earls (Steve), Sheri Smith (Brad), Erika Loyd (Victor), and Larry Hanna III; great-grandfather of Austin Clouatre, Caitlyn Clouatre, Logan Gilley, Lucas Gilley, Jacob Gilley, Fallon Fanick, Cesilie Loyd, Kage Loyd, Alex Earls, Lanie Wells, and Hayden Wells; great-great-grandfather of Autumn Clouatre, Adrian Clouatre, Astrid Clouatre, Remi Fanick, River Fanick, and Caidence Aker; brother of Homer, Bill, Jim, Tom, Marie, Pete, Sonny, Stella, John, Joel, and Kelsa, all preceding him in death; he will be missed also by extended family members and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 16th, 02:00 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home’s Lillye Chapel, and Jack will be laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery. Pallbearers are Matt Gilley, Cody Fanick, Zach Wells, Austin Clouatre, Larry Hanna, and Steve Earls. Larry Hanna III will serve as honorary pallbearer.

Viewing at the funeral home will be Friday, March 15, 1pm-8pm.
