Debra Kay Moore passed away at her home in Horntown, Oklahoma on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at the age of 65 years.

Debi was the daughter of Walter & Kathryn (Shumard) Burkett, born on November 1, 1953, in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She was brought up in the Horntown community and attended Moss Schools, graduating Moss High School with the Class of 1971. Shortly after graduation, she was married to Buford Johnson. They were parents of two children, Angela and Adam.

Debi was a lifelong resident of the Horntown community. She attended the Texas Banner Church of God. She worked as a bank teller and as owner of her own business, D.J.’s Elite Auto Sales in Seminole. She married Bobby C. Moore on May 3, 2008, at their home in Horntown. She was a homemaker at heart, and very much enjoyed yard work and taking care of her flower gardens. She loved the beauty of nature, and sitting outside watching the deer, hummingbirds, and wild turkeys roam around the yard was one of her favorite things. She played the fiddle, and loved how the turkeys would gather and listen when she played her fiddle outside.

Next to her home, Debi loved Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri, where she and Bob spent many happy days in the Spring and Fall of each year. She loved hot air balloons, both watching and riding. She was an avid fan of the OKC Thunder and OU football, and was possibly the most enthusiastic ever admirer of Baker Mayfield. Her pride and joy was her grandson born in 1998, Dakota Brooks, whose special name for her was “Cookie”. Debi’s husband and children were the light of her life, along with many cherished friends. She was much loved, and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter & Kathryn Burkett, and two brothers, Bradley Burkett and David Burkett.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Moore, of the home; two children, Angela Brooks of Horntown, and Adam Johnson of Springfield MO; one grandson, Dakota Brooks, currently attending OU in Norman; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 22, 2019, 2:00 at Texas Banner Church of God in Horntown, and Debi was laid to rest at Holdenville Cemetery. Rev. Joe Lunsford was the officiating minister, with eulogy given by Mr. Bill Robinson. Pallbearers were Scott Price, Wesley Hill, Bill Freeman, Reggie Davis, Osceloa Powell, and Randy Fields. Honorary pallbearers were Dakota Brooks, Chris Powell, and Lynn Landry.
