Read moreCarson Baptist Church is having Vacation Bible School, June 6-10, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. We will be visiting “Spark Studio” where we will explore our artistic side in the Bible. We will be visiting our Bible Studio, our Crafts Design Center, our Music Sound Stage and the Missions Workshop. We will discover that our creativity is a gift for God, our creator, to use for his Glory. Ages 3 years – 18 years.

Read moreEditor and Civil Rights activist George Napier Perkins was born in Williamson County, Tennessee, on January 1, 1842. After a move to Little Rock at the age of fifteen, he served in the U.S. Army for three years, married Maggie A. Delards of Fort Smith in 1867, finished his education, and was admitted to the Arkansas bar in 1875. During the Brooks-Baxter War, occurring during Reconstruction in Arkansas, Perkins served as an officer in the conservative Brooks faction’s struggle for the governorship. The political activist was one of four African American delegates to the Arkansas Constitutional Convention, a twoterm alderman on the Little Rock City Council, and justice of the peace for Campbell Township. He continued to pressure white Republicans for more African American participation and was an opponent of the pending Separate Coach Act of 1890. With its passage, Perkins migrated to Oklahoma.
Read moreFamily and friends from several cities and states returned to Clearview during the Memorial Day Weekend to place flowers on the resting places of their loved in the private and community cemeteries in and around Clearview. They visited the private cemeteries of the French/Davis and the Zackery/Lucas families. They also visited the cemeteries of Northfork, Clearview, and Fairlawn in Weleetka. Clearview was established in 1903, and as people arrived, intermingled, married, and families grew, all these cemeteries have members who share a common kinship. Whichever cemetery they visit, they often meet up with each other once again. Shiloh Cemetery, across the river (Canadian) to the south of Clearview is also a part of the Clearview community.
Read moreArdell Withers worked timeliness to make sure the Clearview Cemetery was maintained each Memorial Day for years. She kept records of burial plots, sold cemetery plots, and kept obituaries of those buried in there. On Memorial Day weekends, she spent the entire weekends in the cemetery collecting monies for maintenance. She did it with kindness and a smile and a jester of this is how you can help by donating.
