A felony warrant has been issued for Douglas Lee Tatum on charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon. On March 24, 2023, Deputy Keith Wardlow and Undersheriff Trevor Teague responded to a distress call at 7460 East 147 Road in Allen, Oklahoma. The call came from Shane Varnado and his girlfriend Ashley Mauldin, who reported an assault and vehicle theft at a nearby barn located at Broadway of America and Gerty Road.

Mr. Lee Virgil Patterson Sr., born to Charley and Mary Patterson on November 15, 1926, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, experienced unfortunate circumstances in a family of thirteen children. Despite the obstacles, the children grew up in the State Home of Negro Deaf, Blind and Orphans, known simply as the DB&O in Taft, Oklahoma. Patterson and his brother Alfred believed in an education, therefore; they moved to Tulsa to attend school. They supported themselves as tailors. He graduated high school and went to college on a football scholarship at Shaw University in North Carolina. He missed being at home, so he transferred to Langston University. He suffered an injury which ended his athletic career at Langston University. However, he rebounded with a job as a student coach, and graduated with a B.S. degree in Industrial Arts. When duty called in 1951, he honored his country by serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

During the winter sports season, Homer and Joyce Barrett, Ted and Marilyn Jackson, and Donnie and Shirley Nero spent many hours on the roads attending basketball games or indoor track meets of their grandchildren. Some of the events were attended via livestream because of distance. The Barrett’s watched their grandson Tio Barrett play for Edmond North and Tio and his team mates eventually won the 6A State Title in basketball. Donnie and Shirley Nero attended indoor trach meets to watch their grandson Makai Blades run for Pittsburg State where they won the NCAA Division II Track and Field Championship. Jordan Marie Blades, a senior at Glenpool, played basketball and made it to state finals where they were defeated by Sapulpa High Girls, who went on to win the 5A State Title. Jada Ann played elementary basketball and took second place in the elementary tournament.
