The broadcast is called “Black Farmers Struggle in Face of Structural Racism and Economic Headwinds. The piece aired March 23, 2023. PBS stopped by the DNS Ranch, interviewed Donnie Nero, and toured Clearview which became a part of the broadcast. You can view the broadcast on YouTube.

Read moreRon Claiborne, retired American journalist and correspondent for ABC News, heard there were Black towns in Oklahoma from a Boley resident in California while visiting a story about the famous return of Bruce’s Beach to a Black family in LA County, California. Mr. Claiborne never knew the rich African American history of Oklahoma. He reached out to Larry O’Dell of the Oklahoma History Center who referred him to Shirley Nero of Clearview, who in returned invited him to visit Clearview.

Mayor Norma Marshall called the meeting to order, followed by an invocation by Donna Dyer and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Richard Roush. The roll call was made, and all council members were present except for Jason Lee.
