It is a new podcast focused on Oklahoma’s Native American ballerinas, Maria Tallchief, and Marjorie Tallchief (Osage), Yvonne Chouteau (Shawnee), Moscelyne Larkin (Peoria/ Eastern Shawnee), and Rosella Hightower (Choctaw) were all born in Oklahoma during the 1920s and went on to become prima ballerinas. Nicknamed the “Five Moons,” they achieved the pinnacle of success in their respective ballet careers, making their marks in America and on the international stage. They were named Oklahoma Cultural Treasures in 1997. A beautiful mural in the Oklahoma State Capitol, Flight of Spirit (above), painted by Mike Larsen (Chickasaw), pays tribute to them. Legislative / Celebrity Showmanship is one of the most important and enjoyable shows of the year during OYE. Each year, more than 100 Oklahoma legislators and celebrities attend the showmanship contest where they are paired with exhibitors to compete for top showman. This is an opportunity for Oklahoma Legislators and Celebrities to meet with the future leaders of the agriculture industry. Landen and Lainee Yates have the opportunity to become the teacher, of something they are very passionate about, to their Oklahoma leaders and share an amazing experience.

Caitlynn is also a recipient of the Eastern Oklahoma State College Mark McGee Memorial Scholarship which will be presented to her on March 21st at the Oklahoma Youth Expo in OKC. Caitlynn earned her State FFA Degree as well and will be walking across the State FFA Degree stage in May to receive that award. Caitlynn plans to attend EOSC to pursue a degree in Agricultural Education and follow in her two favorite agricultural educators footsteps - her advisor, Mr. Purkins, and her dad, Matt Rosenow, who teaches AGED at Stuart.
