(Note: Being 84 years old has its advantages but not during COVAD-19 shutdown w h i c h locked me inside my house for about six weeks, thus limiting my contact with the outside world. Read moreA special thank you to our neighbor and dear friend Janet Perry for the beautiful flowers. She has a great gift for growing flowers and plants and her yard is incredible. I took two of my grandchildren over to visit Chuck and Janet and they were amazed at her yard. In fact they didn’t want to leave. Janet gave Peyton wisteria seeds and we hope it turns out half as good as Janet’s .

Read moreStaff Writer I know, because I was a junior at East Central State College and working part-time as a window trimmer for Montgomery Ward in Ada and refereeing high school basketball games in small schools surrounding areas. I lived in a one-room apartment four blocks from EC, which meant I walked nine blocks to work in beautiful downtown Ada if I couldn’t hitch a ride. Then on Sundays and Wednesdays, I walked 14 blocks to church, again if I couldn’t look or sound pitiful and get a ride. But I could always stop at Folgers and get a hamburger for a quarter. These are some things that could have been said about the state of the state of Oklahoma and many surrounding states during this time: Some things couldn’t be repeated in a family newspaper.
